GRITO DE ALCORTA

First prize, 2012 / Totoras, Santa Fe, Argentina.

The piece is conceived as a structural and material metaphor for a self-sustaining and more just form of organization. The plane represents the land—the productive Pampa. It rises to the level of the horizon, ever-present in the fertile plains, from where it both supports and is supported by a series of steel rods symbolizing the working individual. This composition forms a system of organized forces, working in the same way and at the same time, combining efforts that, individually, would be incapable of bearing the load. If even one element were missing, the system would collapse. The land and the individual, essential to one another, create a symbiotic structure in pursuit of balance.
