The proposal emerges from acknowledging the value of one of the key building materials nationwide, the brick. Found in nearly every corner of Argentina, the brick holds a privileged position as a symbol. Thus, the initial decision defining our intervention is to design an artifact composed of bricks that come from various regions of our country. The contrast between a standardized element conceived for homogenous repetition and the variation that arise from its different origins serves as a starting point: while every individual is unique and unrepeatable, there is always something that binds us together. The proposal encapsulates the desire to create a work that celebrates our commonality beyond any differences in our provenance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The linear tension of the terrace in which the object will be placed suggest the construction of a wall. Instead of assembling the wall employing traditional bonds, we opt to pay homage to the stacking techniques observed next to brick kilns, on transportation trucks or even on construction sites. There is an undeniable beauty in these intuitive stackings, in interlocking logic that defines a structure devoid of formal design that is nothing more than what it needs to be to stand upright. This arrangement also exposes all sides of the brick, allowing an appreciation of all of their unique characteristics. As one traverses the terrace, they journey through our nation as if seen through a fractured mirror. The provinces might not be distinctly outlined, but they are present, scattered across its surface. Once again, we confront the beauty of diversity, of the interwoven complex composition of our social fabric.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wall is a complex signifier. In its origin, it divides, compartmentalizes, separates, opposees. How can one argue with a wall? At the same time, the brick is relentless in the correspondence of its side, in the hermeticism of its system. However, here a subversion occurs: by constructing a wall with bricks of diverse origins, shapes, and sizes allows the possibility of error, of the intrusion of inevitable mismatches on the wall. The imperfect stacking inevitably creates openings. Here and there, small disconnections between bricks suggest openings that imply communication between sides: a space for light to pass through. If we accept that the concept of the wall can be a contested terrain, we propose to regard it not as a division but as an artifact of encounter, union or connection.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
